No fewer than four of the 12 candidates still in the running for the Butkus Award, symbolic of the nation’s best linebacker, play for ACC teams. They are North Carolina’s Zach Brown, N.C. State’s Audie Cole, Boston College’s Luke Kuechly and Miami’s Sean Spence. Brown is a 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior who leads the Tar Heels in tackles with 46. He also has 2.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.
