Return to Tailback U.? The Tar Heels' impressive run
Posted Nov 7, 2011
Despite a dismal offensive showing in Saturday's loss at N.C. State, North Carolina managed to reach a milestone. Redshirt freshman Giovani Bernard surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the season. The Tar Heels had 13 straight seasons without one since Jonathan Linton topped the mark in 1997. That's worth nothing because UNC once was known for cranking out 1,000-yard rushers.
