Bowl curiosity grows around Tar Heels

North Carolina’s embattled football program is eligible to compete in a bowl game, something that has been in place for nearly a month. But Everett Withers, the interim coach, repeated Monday that “hopefully” the Tar Heels will be in a bowl after the regular-season finale Saturday against visiting Duke. “Bowl eligible doesn’t mean you automatically go,” Withers said. “Until somebody says we’re going, I don’t know.”
