Butch Davis stays mum about contract extension

Coach Butch Davis declined yesterday to say if he and UNC athletics officials are negotiating an extension to his contract as the school’s football coach. Davis will finish his first season at UNC on Saturday in the season finale against Duke at Kenan Stadium. He has six years left on the contract he signed last year. Davis has been mentioned in media and fan speculation as a possible candidate for the job at Arkansas. (Winston-Salem Journal)
