Bernard voted All-ACC; UNC’s Coples, Brown on first-team

Two days after breaking Amos Lawrence’s 34-year-old rushing record at North Carolina, Giovani Bernard joined Lawrence as the only freshman running backs in school history to be selected to the All-ACC first team. Three area seniors — defensive end Quinton Coples and linebacker Zach Brown of UNC and Duke safety Matt Daniels — also were announced as first-team All-ACC selections Monday.
