Focus on defense is paying off for UNC

North Carolina’s stand last Saturday to stop Maryland in a threatening drive in the game’s final minute was play that hadn’t been seen in Kenan Stadium since the 2004 season. In its first season under Coach Butch Davis, UNC is starting to play more competent defense and is shedding its image as one of the nation’s worst defensive teams. (Winston-Salem Journal)
