Because the league finds itself flush with more storylines and characters than perhaps at any point in its history, the return of a player retired for nearly two years could get ignored in such a crowded narrative. But the resurrection of Rasheed Wallace, like that of his Lakers suitors, should be appreciated less as the arrival of a hero or savior, than that of a much-missed court jester.
