Football program hit with bowl ban, 3-year probation, scholarship cuts

The University of North Carolina’s long wait to hear from the NCAA is over. But now the school must deal with the penalties more severe than expected. The football team received a postseason ban in 2012, the loss of 15 scholarships over the next three seasons and three years of probation. The NCAA Committee on Infractions found UNC was responsible for nine major violations.
