Sources: SMU fires Matt Doherty after six seasons

SMU fired men's basketball coach this morning, according to sources close to the program. The news does not come as a surprise. Doherty was 80-109 in six seasons at SMU, capped by a frustrating 13-19 season that ended Wednesday in the first round of the Conference USA tournament. Doherty had one year remaining on his contract and is expected to walk with over $500,000. (Dallas Morning News)
