Without Kendall Marshall, the Tar Heels lost to Kansas 80-67. For the second year in a row, a national-title contender – perhaps THE national-title contender – saw its hopes dashed by untimely injuries to key players. They just happen to share the same area code. Duke was dominant in the eight games Kyrie Irving played in the fall of 2010 before his toe popped – and the Devils’ title hopes went with it.
