Hatchell, McCallie remain grateful to ‘pioneer’ Pat Summitt


’s first college basketball job was as the junior varsity coach at Tennessee. The varsity coach was her graduate school classmate, 22-year-old Pat Summitt. “You knew she was going to do great things,” Hatchell said. Hatchell’s one season at Tennessee was the first of 38 for Summitt, who stepped down Wednesday as the winningest coach in women’s college basketball history. (Durham Herald-Sun)
