USC enjoys late arrival by its host

North Carolina chased USC to the final gun. If the Tar Heels had not waited until the second half to begin the pursuit, UNC’s Kentwan Balmer said, the Gamecocks would not have escaped with its 21-15 victory. Balmer, the Tar Heels' starting left defensive tackle, said USC did not win Saturday's game at Kenan Stadium, but rather North Carolina lost it.
