Mistakes prove costly for Tar Heels

The crowd at Kenan Stadium came to its feet in a standing ovation as the North Carolina Tar Heels left the field Saturday evening. “I’m almost started crying,’’ said UNC defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer. “I felt sorry we let them down.’’ Balmer’s feelings may seem like a strange reaction to the fans’ display of appreciation. But it was simply another sign of the progress North Carolina has made under first-year head coach Butch Davis.
