Former Tar Heels To Run Track And Field For Team USA

Two former Tar Heels are preparing to run in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Shalane Flanagan and Alice Schmidt both earned spots on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field team. Flanagan will compete in the marathon, and Schmidt will run the 800 meter. Schmidt won two NCAA titles while she was running for Carolina and set both the UNC and ACC records.
