Gamecocks, S.C. winning football recruiting battle

In coach Steve Spurrier's third season, South Carolina has 16 players on its roster from North Carolina. Among them are starters William Brown of Boonville at center and Marque Hall of Wingate at defensive tackle. Ryan Succop, the kicker and punter, is from Hickory. They've crossed a border that has become almost a one-way street as the Gamecocks (5-1) prepare to visit North Carolina (2-4) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
