Austin Nichols trims college list to six, eliminates UNC

Briarcrest senior forward Austin Nichols, whom ESPN last week named the No. 10 player in the nation, trimmed his list Sunday to six schools: Memphis, Auburn, Tennessee, Virginia, Duke, and Vanderbilt. “We were a little late cutting the list, but we had to get it done and we were confident in each school,” Nichols said. The 6-8, 215-pound Nichols is rated a 5-star prospect by ESPN. His father, Mark Nichols, said they plan to take official visits to Virginia, Auburn, Tennessee, Duke and Vanderbilt.
