Teams refresh rivalry

Once again, there is passion and spark about an old rivalry that will be rekindled this week. Once again, it is North Carolina vs. South Carolina, the first football confrontation between the two teams in 16 years. Before South Carolina hastily pulled out of the ACC in 1972, the schools competed fiercely in football -- and even more so in basketball, particularly when Dean Smith's Tar Heels were pitted against Frank McGuire's Gamecocks.
