Head coach Larry Fedora won his debut in Chapel Hill, improving to 35-19 overall in five seasons (34-19 in four years at Southern Miss). Carolina established a new school and ACC record for single-game punt return yards with 260 on nine returns. The previous mark of 225 yards was set against VMI in 1935.
