With four weeks of frustrations, near-misses and might-haves bottled up, the Tar Heels exploded to 27-0 lead in the first half against the Hurricanes. They rode Anthony Elzy's running, Connor Barth's kicking, two interceptions, a blocked punt and a marvelous end-around to Brandon Tate for a 54-yard touchdown. The once-mighty Hurricanes were shell shocked and disheveled.
