Roy Williams ready to ‘smell the roses’ after scare

It was only three weeks ago, but Roy Williams said it felt like three years ago. The UNC men’s basketball coach gathered his team in the locker room at the Smith Center and told them he had a tumor on each kidney. The chance he had cancer, he thought, was 95 percent. The Tar Heels were back at the Smith Center on Thursday for preseason media day, and the atmosphere was much more festive.
