In this close Battle of Tobacco Road, North Carolina just barely beat rival Duke, 41-40. Fuzzy Lee came up with a huge interception with 1:20 left that stopped a Duke offensive drive and kept the Victory Bell trophy in Chapel Hill for another year. Tar Heels WR Octavus Barnes caught one touchdown and threw for another. Duke WR Jon Jenson caught a record 14 passes, scored one touchdown, and had 174 yards on the day.
