Tar Heels take steps in right direction in basketball victory

North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams thought his team showed a marked improvement in the second round of its two-game opening weekend by putting away Florida Atlantic 80-56 on Sunday afternoon. “I think we got a heck of a lot better as a team,” Williams said of his 11th-ranked Tar Heels. And there was plenty to like, with a few ugly spots sewn into the rout.
