PG Shelton Mitchell Commits to Wake Forest, Joel Berry to officially visit UNC
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Shelton Mitchell, a 2014 point guard and UNC recruiting target, committed to Wake Forest on Friday night, Mitchell announced via his Twitter account:
"I just want everyone know that I am a demon deacon and part of the wake forest family! Go deacs!!!!"
Mitchell, who was one of three point guards being recruited by Roy Williams in the 2014 class, did not have an offer from UNC but received a lot of interest from the Tar Heel staff and had visited Chapel Hill on several occasions.
UNC's top-two point guard prospects, however, remain uncommitted. Joel Berry will officially visit Chapel Hill on the weekend of January 18th. The Tar Heels currently sit at or very near the top of Berry's list. Tyus Jones, however, appears to be leaning more heavily towards other schools like Duke, Minnesota, and Michigan state, among others.
