White House Petition: Bestow the Medal of Freedom on Dean Smith

A petition has been posted on the official White House web site for signatures requesting that legendary North Carolina basketball coach Dean Smith be recognized with the Medal of Freedom, America's highest civilian honor, for his coaching accomplishments and his "courageous voice for integration and racial equality."
