Nicks' play provided Heels with ray of hope in loss

Hakeem Nicks tried to carry North Carolina single-handedly to victory in its ACC opener Saturday at Kenan Stadium. With the rushing game sputtering for the third consecutive game, UNC was forced to move the ball and score its points by passing. Nicks responded with his best game of the season, catching seven passes for 113 yards and scoring twice. (Winston-Salem Journal)
