Playing for the first time since losing by 26 in Miami last Saturday and getting a jolt of emotion from a new, smaller starting lineup that included sophomore sixth-man P.J. Hairston, coach Roy Williams’ team showed some important signs of life while giving the Blue Devils an unexpectedly tough battle.
