The first loss of the era at North Carolina was memorable: A botched hold kept Tar Heels kicker from attempting a go-ahead 52-yard field goal with 55 seconds left, then a game-winning 39-yarder by ECU sophomore Ben Hartman sailed through the uprights as time expired. But the fact that the 34-31 defeat was so close is also memorable in itself. (Raleigh News & Observer)
