Pirates edge Tar Heels
Posted Sep 9, 2007
Ben Hartman got an unexpected chance at redemption last night, thanks to North Carolina’s ineptness, and booted East Carolina to victory with a game-deciding field goal as time expired. Hartman’s kick from 39 yards out nailed down a 34-31 win and set off a wild celebration in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Both teams are 1-1, with the Tar Heels getting their first loss under Coach Butch Davis.
