Attesting to Dean Smith's Character


He has a kind manner not unlike ’s. Smith’s family said in 2010 that he has a “progressive neurocognitive disorder that affects his memory,” and I wrote in my March 31 column about how much his voice is missed. One of my Carolina buddies, Rob Grubbs of Winston-Salem, emailed in response, telling me that he’d gotten to know Smith when he went to basketball camp at Carolina as a boy. (Daily Tar Heel)
