North Carolina struck quickly last night behind a quarterback making his first college start and rocked James Madison 37-14 at Kenan Stadium in the season opener for both teams. North Carolina shot to a 24-0 lead two minutes into the second quarter on the right arm of quarterback T.J. Yates, a redshirt freshman, and never let up to give Butch Davis a win in his first game as coach.
