Yates guides Tar Heels to victory in Davis' debut
Posted Sep 2, 2007
As far as first impressions go, this one was first-rate. T.J. Yates tossed a touchdown pass on the first throw of his college career, and the North Carolina football team rolled past James Madison 37-14 Saturday night in its first game with Butch Davis as head coach. The Tar Heels led 21-0 after one quarter and 30-7 at halftime in front of a sellout crowd of 58,500 at Kenan Stadium, picking up just their third season-opening victory in the past 10 seasons.
