Kent Emanuel drafted by Houston Astros in third round

North Carolina junior lefthander Kent Emanuel was chosen by the Houston Astros with the No. 74 overall pick during the third round Friday. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Emanuel was a preseason All-American. He’s 11-3 with a 2.70 ERA for the Tar Heels this season, striking out 88 and walking 27 in 120 1/3 innings. The pick has a bonus-pool slot value of $747,700.
