Spectators of Steve Spurrier’s Florida offenses in the 90s would likely have never believed that just over a decade later he’d be overseeing a defensive-minded team with an offense seeking to bludgeon the opposing defense into submission rather than throwing it all over the field. Then again, those same spectators would surely never have believed Spurrier would be plying his trade in Columbia, South Carolina, either.
