Posted Aug 9, 2007
Matt McCay, a former UNC letterwinner and a six-year standout in professional baseball, has been named an assistant coach with the Tar Heels, head coach Mike Fox announced Wednesday. McCay replaces Jason Howell, who was named the pitching coach at UNC Wilmington last week. In addition to his on-field work, McCay will work closely with the Tar Heels' strength and conditioning program and with the team's nutritionist regarding all team meals.
