Heels land coveted power forward

After a string of near misses on the recruiting trail this spring, North Carolina coach finally landed the sparkling Class of 2008 gem he needed Wednesday when he received a verbal commitment from power forward . Davis, ranked No. 8 among rising seniors by Prepstars.com, is a versatile left-hander whose attacking style of play should fit in well in Chapel Hill. At 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds, he averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior. (Fayetteville Observer)
