With wing players P.J. Hairston, Leslie McDonald and J.P. Tokoto all wearing suits on the bench because of NCAA issues, the Tar Heels were left with a starting lineup of two point guards, two power forwards, and a center. Partly as a result, UNC committed 23 turnovers and only led by seven points with 7½ minutes left before pulling away for an 82-63 win over Division II UNC Pembroke.
