Leaving a lasting legacy

When Eddie Pope hangs up his cleats this fall, he'll be leaving future American defenders with, well, very big shoes to fill. The celebrated North Carolina product has accumulated various honors over the years, and his generation has put American soccer on the map, both by fielding international teams to be reckoned with and by establishing a solid domestic league, Major League Soccer.
