Respect, discipline among lessons from Dean's office

Two and a half years have passed since we last saw Dean Smith in public. He was honored at the 2011 Naismith Awards in Raleigh. Smith’s family has said the legendary UNC basketball coach suffers from a neurocognitive disorder that affects his memory. But from my position on the stage that June night, I saw a glimpse or two of one of the man’s most legendary personality traits.
