Davis injects new life -- and big recruits -- into Tar Heels

The hiring of Butch Davis injected the program with the kind of enthusiasm not seen since ... well, maybe not seen since Jim Tatum returned to his alma mater in the 1950s to turn it into a power. The excitement spiked on signing day in February, when Davis and his staff put several finishing touches on a remarkably strong class. One national recruiting analyst said only Southern California closed any stronger on signing day.
