Eight-year-old M’Liss Gary was sure she’d outfoxed him. Playing flashlight tag one night more than 50 years ago in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she crouched at the bottom of the slope, right under playmate Anson Dorrance’s nose. And yet, when he was finished counting, he made a beeline for her hiding spot.
