Because Coach Mike Fox had to use the top starters Robert Woodard and Adam Wooten against the Owls, the struggling freshman right-hander Alex White (0-2, 16.76 E.R.A. in three postseason starts) will start Game 1. The sophomore Luke Putkonen (8-1), who pitched a seven-inning three-hitter to beat Louisville in an elimination game Tuesday, is scheduled to start Game 2 against the Oregon State junior Mike Stutes (11-4).
