Cincinnati latest to learn that when in doubt, don’t punt to Switzer

On his third punt return attempt, 5-foot-10, 175-pound freshman All-America eschewed a fair catch, eluded the first Cincinnati defender, and outran the rest for an 86-yard touchdown. The early third quarter score didn’t just improve Switzer’s average and send the Tar Heels on to an impressive 39-17 win at Bank of America Stadium. It also put his name into the national record books. (Wilmington Star News)
