Timing system inventor: Blame NCAA for UNC finish

The clock controversy at the end of Sunday’s game between UNC and Iowa State left the cell phone of Mike Costabile ringing at a steady clip. The inventor of the Precision Time System, used by basketball teams around the world, surely had to be the reason the Tar Heels ran out of seconds in a 85-83 loss to the Cyclones. Not his fault, he said adamantly. After all, if it’s not in use, it can’t be to blame.
