In tiny, sparsely filled arenas across the country, P.J. Hairston, a shooting guard, is learning every aspect of the NBA on a smaller scale. The D-League scene is far different from the packed Smith Center in Chapel Hill, where Hairston starred for North Carolina. His experiences this season separate him from every college basketball player trying to make it to the NBA.
