Along with Hurricane Floyd came ECU's 'Gipper Game'

Lives, homes and farmlands were lost. And to some extent, it was a case of insult upon injury. Many of the hardest areas were still trying to recover from another big storm, Hurricane Dennis, which had slammed the state in early September, 1999. And yet for the ever-hearty ECU football fans, the memories of that otherwise miserable experience were at least partially offset by perhaps the most memorable 2-3 weeks in the program’s history.
