The game was inching toward its merciful close Saturday in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium when the prettiest pink and purple and orange sky you've ever seen developed to the west. To see the sundown from the vantage point of the Tar Heel sideline, you had to look beyond a large red flag flopping in the breeze. On it was the skull-and-crossbones mark of the East Carolina Pirates and the words "No Quarter." (GoHeels.com)
