Robert Woodard speared the soft liner for the final out of the game, putting an exclamation mark after his name in the UNC baseball record book. Woodard pitched a complete game Friday night, picking up the 30th victory of his career to move into a tie for first place on UNC's all-time wins list. He scattered nine hits and fielded his position flawlessly as the Tar Heels blanked Duke 7-0 in front of a season-high crowd of 2,835 at Boshamer Stadium.
