The combination of improved depth and athletic length has No. 6 UNC primed to elevate its defensive standing from a season ago, as evidenced by the Tar Heels’ 112-34 smothering of Division II Belmont Abbey on Friday. “I told them in the locker room that we have a chance to be much better defensively this year than we were last year,” UNC coach Roy Williams told reporters.
