Carolina tried its best to defend Notre Dame's outside-oriented offense with two post players, but with Kennedy Meeks already saddled with four fouls early in the second half, Williams finally junked the post approach and went small at 12:50 when trailing by 11. The smaller lineup brought the Tar Heels back into the game both offensively and defensively.
