“He was more than a basketball coach,” said Jeff McInnis, who played for Dean Smith’s North Carolina Tar Heels from 1993-96. “He was just a fair man. For me to have played for him and had a relationship with him, that’s the greatest thing for me. He was a father figure, a mentor, everything.
